The Legend of Sato's Crucian Carp

Synopsis

Shoji catches a strange crucian carp from Osato-ga-fuchi, with cloudy white eyes. There turns out to be a sad legend behind this fish: long ago, a village girl named Osato, who had lost both her eyes in war and whose engagement was broken off in despair, drowned herself in this pool. The white-eyed "Osato-buna" is said to be her reincarnation. Sanpei's wish to cure the carp's eyes leads him toward the secret of the water quality in this very pool.
