Biography

Hideyuki Fukasawa, born on November 30, 1970, in Tokyo, is a Japanese composer best known for the score of Street Fighter IV. He studied piano from elementary school, was drawn to Tchaikovsky after hearing the soundtrack of the animated film Swan Lake at ten, and took up synthesizer, guitar, bass, and drums in high school before beginning work as a synthesizer programmer in 1991. He contributed to Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny under lead composer Taro Iwashiro, sampling traditional Japanese instruments, which led to his scoring Chaos Legion and later the in-game music of Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams. For Street Fighter IV he worked under sound director Masayuki Endou to modernize the music, choosing instruments to reflect the backgrounds of characters and stages. He also composed Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon- with Keita Haga, aiming for an urban, modern, and mysterious sound.
