Biography

Johann Pachelbel (baptised September 11, 1653 – buried March 9, 1706) was a German composer, organist, and teacher regarded as a leading figure of the middle Baroque era. He produced a large body of sacred and secular music and advanced the chorale prelude and fugue, but is most famous today for the Canon in D. His clear, melodically focused contrapuntal style influenced composers across south and central Germany.
